All Beautiful

SSA + schola cantorum, 5' (2018)

This piece unites passages from the 4th century Catholic prayer to the Virgin Mary ‘Tota Pulchra Es’, with Rilke’s beautiful and simple Epitaph. Both speak of simple beauty, and this work seeks to show that beauty through use of simple chants performed independently to create a blossoming effect. Each text says a great deal, with so few words. Hopefully the simple harmonies and melodies, performed in blossoming textures, will bring this to life.
